Virtual Meeting - June 22

Welcome back! I hope you are all surviving the heat. Wasn't it snowing, the last time we got together? Despite the weather, there is an impressive number of pictures for this week.

First. a Tip of the Week: I saw this video, the other day, and she shows us 5 ways to display our quilts. I thought you might enjoy it.

Now on to our Show and Tell:

Anita is still working through her scraps. She made all these quilt tops from the leftovers from a Connecting Threads quilt kit.

Anne Lacasse has been knitting.

Barb Karim is hand quilting her UFO's. She has completed 3 so far. Here are two.

Carol McFee is expecting a new grandson, this summer and sent this quilt in time for the new Dad to have it for Father's Day.

Doreen's grandson was with her when she bought the fabric for a quilt for him, last summer. He was asking her about it, so she finished it. Her grandson is a big train fan.

This is the back. Doreen thanks Anita for the idea.

She also finished an older UFO.  This was a block of the month from a few years ago.

Judy Case has finished her One Block Wonder.

Kate has been working on a Block of the Week. It is called the Summer Reading Stitching Club.

I started June 2, and am mostly up to date.

Kathy O'Hagen has finished her quilt called Pattie's Posies. The beautiful quilting is by Krista.

Kathy lost track of how many half square triangles she made.

Lynda Smyth made this quilt top in 2008 and quilted it during her time at home this year.

It is called Meadow Baskets.

Margaret Duncan is working on this cute baby quilt.

Marilyn turned some April Cornell napkins into a bright spring lap quilt.

A companion wall hanging is hanging nearby.

MaryAnn made this Bargello quilt from an excellent workshop given by Maggie Ziehl. Some of you will remember it as the day we met and the power was off.

Nancy took a workshop at the OVQG with Mara Praulins on turning your UFOs into a finished product. Her favourite block in the is "Eat Your Carrots" from a workshop by David Taylor.
Harry and Bailey are inspecting Krista's excellent quilting.

Nicole only managed one quilt, this time.

Pat Nyenhuis has finished her red challenge quilt.

She is calling it "Falling Leaves".

Wow, all of those pictures are wonderful.

Virtual Meeting - June 8

Welcome back . It has now been three months since we last met in person. I am glad we have this way of staying connected. I see that many of us have been keeping ourselves busy, playing with fabric.

Which leads me to the thought for the day:
When you magically find fabric that you forgot you had, is it Fabricadabra or Stashcovery?

I don't have a tip this week. If anybody sees something they found useful, please send me the information so we can all share it.

Anita's first project is from scraps from a quilt she affectionately called "The Nightmare".

This lap quilt was made from scraps from a kit from Connection threads. She was going to give the top away, but her long-arm quilter likes it so much, she is keeping it.

Barb Karim brings us a quilt she says is an "oldie".

Carol McFee has finished her hexie quilt. Krista is going to baste it for her, so she can hand quilt it, next winter. It is made up of about 9000 half inch hexagons!

Janice pound has finished her quilt called "Starry Log Cabins". The second picture shows a closeup of the quilting by Stella Gray.

Joy completed two jelly roll quilts for Victoria's Quilts.
The first is a Missouri Star pattern and Joy used a jelly roll with a pinked edge, something she won't do again.

The second is a much easier keyhole pattern.

Kate has been making masks. I have been using a pattern created by a two quilters. the pattern can be found at https://www.bestdiyfacemask.org/

The Bear says it is a bit big. They did add children's sizes to the pattern, this week.

Lynda Smith finished hand quilting this quilt in May. It is called Coxcombs & Berries and the pattern is from Quilter's Newsletter, from the old days when the magazine came in the mail.

Maureen Foley send a favourite of hers from a few years ago. This is the Sunflower Panel from "Expressions of Morris".

Nicole bought this kit called "Raindrops" about 3 years ago, and has finally gotten to finish it.

She also finished this quilt top from blocks donated by Anita. It will go to Victoria's Quilts.

Pat Nyenhuis sorts her scraps by colour and stores them on hangers. She used up much of her green hanger on this quilt.

Her daughter has already laid claim to this one.

Pat's blue hanger is becoming a bed size quilt.

Susan Noad was working on this while we were still meeting at the church but hadn't gotten very far. All her time at home has given her time to finish it.

I see we are making good use of our time in isewlation! Our next "meeting" will be June 22. I look forward to seeing what you have been doing.
