Virtual Meeting - August 24

I just couldn't resist sharing this cartoon.

It was a quiet week for Show and Tell. I suspect many of you are back to making masks for the grandkids to wear to school.  However, we do have some nice pictures.

We haven't heard from Diane Watchorn, so she has sent some pictures to catch up. First is a sorting of donated scraps.

She is putting the scraps to good use. This is her pile of scrappy quilts she has complete since March.

Diane's first Rag Quilt.

Helen heard of an older lady who needed a fidget quilt, so she made one.

Fidget Quilts give dementia patients with restless hands tactile stimulation.

Janice Pound is much more up to date with the Bag of the Month Club, than I am. She has completed the August bag. (I thought about it!)

The pattern is Duffle Backpack by Sewing Patterns by Mrs. H.  I love Janice's fabric and she says she made it from her stash.

I am pretty sure we are all bored of masks now, but my friend Cheryl Coville has been making some unique ones, to raise money for the Lyndhurst  Feral Cat Rescue. I could not resist, so I ordered one.

As you can imagine, she has been swamped with orders.

Liz helped her granddaughter, who is going into Grade 6, make her own masks for school. They had lots of fun picking fabrics.

Marilyn took a UFO started in about 2002.

She lined it and converted it to a tabletopper for her deck.

Marilyn bought this fabric in Les-Baux-de-Provence, in southern France. She used some of the border print to cover the hassock.

Pat Nyenhuis has been getting a jump on winter with some Newfoundland mittens.

Pat is also working through her scraps.

This one is an Eye Spy quilt.

Our next show and Tell is September 14. Until then, friends, keep sewing!

Virtual Meeting - August 10

I have really missed going to quilt shows, this spring and summer. I came across this the other day. Studio Art Quilt Associates were planning to meet for the first time in Canada. Since it was to be in Toronto, in March, the meeting was cancelled. However,  a show titled Colour with a "U", is currently on exhibit at Homer Watson House in Kitchener and it is art quilts made by the members,

You can watch the show on video, through the Homer Watson website:
https://www.homerwatson.on.ca/exhibitions/saqa-exhibition/

Scroll to the bottom of the page,  to find the link to the video.
The video is an hour long, so get comfortable and enjoy.

Apparently Quilts in their Natural Habitat appealed to many of you this week, because I have 28 pictures for you.

First, Barb Sharp-Bond made this quilt and bag for Victoria's Quilts. It is called White Mountain, and was quilted by Krista.

Barb made this second quilt, with religious blocks, for a friend.

Carol McFee has Midnight Gardens hanging in her family room.

Carol has Ode to Yoko Saito in her bedroom. (You will have to try your head to read the lovely label.)

Christine Welsh is getting some Christmas gifts finished, five months ahead of time.

Jan Pound shows us her daughter-in-law snuggled under the quilt Jan made her.

Jan's grandchildren, Spencer and Olivia enjoy her tumbling blocks quilt.

Joy made the Mexican Pots Wall Quilt at the Pickle Dish.

Joy made the Ginko Wall Quilt at a class in Mesa, Arizona.

Judith Pach made a Dr. Who quilt for her daughter-in-law.

She made a Christmas quilt for herself, featuring cardinals, her favourite bird.

Kate is participating in a charity walk for Bruce House, and I am making Hand Sanitizer Pouches to give as gifts to my sponsors.

Though I have a hard time believing it, not everyone is a cat lover. So here is another pouch, in the "wild" with moose playing in the water.

Marilyn has changed her spring wall quilts for summer, and she has gone to the beach.

Both this quilt, and the one below are Marilyn's own designs.

Nancy has this lovely McKenna Ryan quilt, Home Tweet Home, in her laundry room. It was appliqued and quilted by Nancy.

She has these lovely tulips in her bathroom. They were appliqued by Nancy and quilted by Krista.

Nicole tried a couple of patterns from a modern quilt book she borrowed from our library.

Pat Nyenhuis is still trying to use up scraps. This one will be used a Christmas gift.

This one is a block of the month from a couple of years ago.

Susan Noad  made these birds in 2018.

She made this quilt in 2017.

Okay, I think I have them all here. Our next "meeting" is Aug. 24. Keep stitching, friends.
