Virtual Meeting - February 2022

I hope you all had a very uneventful month. I had the joy of discovering that our heating system wasn't working properly, just before the big snowstorm struck. So, we spent a couple of chilly days, as well as being without hot water, until the contractor could get here. Its a good thing I have a couple of quilts!

If you are finding it hard to get into sewing these days, I have a cute little project that might get you started. Karen Neary, a quilt designer from Nova Scotia, posted this mug rug to her blog last week.

Karen has a free pattern for this, easily made from scraps. I am going to make one, and I would love to see some of you try it too. The tutorial is here:
You can find the pattern here. https://payhip.com/b/dno5

We have a few pictures of completed projects today.

Carol McFee starts us off with a cushion cover she made. She started it in a workshop given by Audrey Honaver, in 2008, she thinks. (Were we still at the grocery store, then?) She found her sample, made a few more blocks and now has a Christmas Cushion.

Carol also finished the 2021 mystery quilt from Quiltmania magazine. It is hand embroidered and hand quilted, and she calls it Where Flowers Bloom, So Does Hope.

Helen Anderson is currently in Florida, but still quilting. She sends us a picture of a quilt she made for a friend going for cancer treatment.

Joy is pining for spring and dining outside again. so she made a table set from fabric from a kit she decided wasn't ever going to become a quilt.

I found some Super Mario fabric for my Super Mario obsessed grandson. I bought a yard, but didn't count on the fact that he has grown lately. So I ended up having to piece the waistband, since I didn't have enough fabric to cut it as one piece.

MaryAnn has been cutting 1100 pieces to make two I-Spy quilts for her twin 3 year old grandchildren. So far she has only finished sewing the blocks that spell their names.

We will be looking for a progress report, next month, MaryAnn.

Pat was asked to make a quilt for the coworker of a friend, who was going for cancer treatment. The first picture is the quilt, and the second is the story that accompanied the quilt.

Remember, you can see any picture i a larger format, by clicking on the picture. You will probably need to click on the quilt story.

That's all for today. I hope to see some Spiral Heart Mug Mats next month. Who knows, maybe this year we can have a monthly mini project challenge.

If anyone wants to post some items to the Destash page, just send me the pictures and I will refresh the page later in the month.

Next Show and Tell is March 7.
