Show and Tell - October 2024

Welcome back to Show and Tell. Pumpkins, and chilly weather are sure signs that Halloween will soon be here. Did you see the snow on Sunday? I'm not ready!

Anita was talking about a video she had seen  that showed a different binding technique. She has sent us the link to the video. The video is called  Susie's Magic Binding.

Anita also showed some hot pads she has been making.

She will demonstrate how she makes these at the next meeting, if you are interested. This is the list of materials you will need.

If  you use Christmas fabric you will have a nice hostess gift for the season.

You will need a base 7 3/4" square of muslin or other fabric.  It will be inside so any lighter colour will do.

For the star you'll  need 4" squares for each row
Row 1   4 squares
Row 2   8 squares
Row 3   8 squares
Row 4   8 squares

Note contrasting lights and darks are most effective.

Also matching print or colour fabric for the back and 25" of binding.

Anita will have a printed pattern available next week, as well. This is an excellent reason to attend the next meeting.

I received some great pictures of some recent finishes and some Halloween projects.

Anita is still sewing up her scraps.

Carol McPhee recently completed this beauty. It is called Owl and Hare Hallow by Natalie Bird and it was quilted by Krista.

Carol also sent a picture of her Halloween quilt, Baltimore Halloween. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted.

Barb Karim sent pictures of her autumn quilts.

Diane Hart went on a retreat and took along some UFO's to finish.

The last two were originally a queen size quilt that she decided to turn into two quilts and give them to charity. She sent a closeup of the fabrics.

Helen Anderson sent some pictures of some projects she finished that she is taking to florida with her, next month.

And finally, my Halloween Door Hanger.

Of course, it is cats.

Thanks for all the pictures.
