Virtual Meeting - November 16

 This is our sixteenth virtual meeting. I am glad to see people still sewing away. I have been finishing some bindings, so I don't actually have a finish to show. However, a few other people do.

Barb Karim made this quilt for her grandson, and says she finished it about 10 years ago. She says that pattern had the soldiers holding weapons, but Barb changed them to musical instruments.

Don't forget that clicking on the picture will make it larger, if you want to see the detail.

Diane Hart promised herself she would have this wall hanging done for November, and she succeeded.

Diane got these fabrics as scraps from a quilt her sister made. She looked for a block that used small triangles and made this.

Lynda Smith has a finished her vintage Santas and she says it only took her 14 years. There is hope for my UFO's!

She is looking forward to using it in her home this Christmas.

Shirley Lambert also finished a Christmas quilt.

Shirley made a reversible zippered jacket from a sweatshirt, for her little cousin in NB.

I think Sara is going to be the next supermodel.

Next time, we will have our Christmas Show and Tell. Show us how you decorate with quilted items, or give us a picture of your Christmas tree. I know you don't all have decorations like mine, so I want to see them. (For those of you who don't know, I foster cats and kittens. This was one from a few years ago.)

Mark your calendar for Dec. 7, and I'll try to get the reminder out a bit early next time.

Virtual Meeting - November 2

 Somehow or another, it got to be November.  I don't think any of us were really prepared to be away from our normal routines for this long. By the number of Show and Tell submissions this week, I think the cooler weather has us back sewing again.

I am a big fan of blogs, and read many of them. I see that The Geeky Bobbin (a designer from Toronto) is running a blog series titled 'UFOvember" If you are looking for Christmas gifts, maybe you need to look no further that your UFO pile. Because Remembrance Day is next week, let's start with Poppy Quilts.

Barb Karim has been finished another UFO.

Barb Sharp-Bond finished two quilts for Victoria's Quilts, and made bags for them. She used up some of her scraps.

Beth Marshall finished hand quilting this quilt. She says that she misses the companionship of the quilt frame, but is happy to have finished the quilt. She purchased the top from a fibre artist on Manitoulin Island, and the quilt is called Manitoulin Meanderings.

She still has the binding to finish, but look at her quilting.

Carole Kennedy made a farm quilt for her grandson. This is Carole's own design.

She made a Little Red Riding Hood quilt for her granddaughter. It has hand embroidery and appliqued flowers in the centre.

Dianne Watchorn adapted Bonnie Hunter's patter "Appalachian Autumn" to make a table runner. 

Helen Elder-Anderson finished a wall hanging she calls "My Indiana Wheat Field".

Joy has started on Christmas gifts, with some placemats. She says she is waiting for a good movie to finish the bindings. 

Since there wasn't going to be any Trick or Treating, Kate made face masks in Halloween fabrics for the kids in the neighbourhood, and my grandson. There had to be cats, of course.

I made 12 masks in total, and included a bag of treats with the masks.

Marilyn calls this wall hanging "Indian Summer" (That was last Friday, wasn't it?)

Marilyn also finished this quilt, last week. She started it in 2018.

Marion Roussie has also been working on some gifts.

This windowpane wall hanging has a table runner to match. What a good use of a large scale print.

Pat Nyenhuis is also making Christmas gifts, tote bags for the ladies on her list.

I just want to remind you that on December 7 , we are having a special Winter / Christmas Show and Tell. I want pictures of your tree skirts, table runners, wall hangings, or quilts, old or new, that give us a sense of how you decorate for Christmas / Winter Solstice / whatever we might be celebrating this year.
