Virtual Meeting - Feb 22

The dogs are starting to get me up too early and the weather is getting a bit warmer. I think this means that spring might be on the way!

I am missing socially distanced chats with friends, so bring on the warmer weather!

I have an extra treat for you today. After you finish looking at the gorgeous pictures from our members, check out the prize winners from QuiltCon 2021.

Diane Hart says that when February started she didn't have a Valentine wall hanging, so she pulled out some fabric and got busy.

And because just one was not enough, she made a second one.

Doreen bought this pattern when she was visiting PEI and at least 3 family members have asked if they can have the finished wall hanging.

Helen Elder-Anderson has been working on a doll house for a number of years, and she has declared it finished. She says the tiny quilts are hand quilted.

In keeping with my strengths, I made two zippered pouches for my little friends next door. I thought they would be good to carry spare masks to school in, so I filled them with new masks, too.

Kathy Panagapko made this quilt for Canada 150.

Kathy's Grandmother made this one, in the 1930's.

Marilyn sent pictures of her Crazy Hearts quilt.

She calls this one Masks, and it is her own design.

This is Marion Roussie's Winter Village quilt. She finished it in January.

Thank you to everyone who sent pictures. I have heard lots of wonderful feedback from members on how they enjoy seeing all the quilts. If you haven't sent a picture lately, perhaps you could send me one or two pictures in March. Our next Show and Tell is next week, March 1.

Virtual Meeting - February1, 2021

Welcome back! I hope you are staying in and staying warm.

Nancy sent us some links to some interesting videos, we can watch while at home.

Lisa Walton has a YouTube channel where she interviews quilters. Nancy  says she has enjoyed them.

Thimbles and Things in Severn, Ontario is offering Zoom classes. They have a virtual class pass for $25 that allows you to take all the classes.

Barb Gillespie, who used to live in Ottawa, has opened a quilt shop in BC and is offering free shipping until Feb. 13.

That should keep you going for awhile.

Here is more inspiration to get you into your sewing space.

Anne would like us to know that she has a finish for 2021. She started this runner in 2018 and recently finish the binding.

Diane Hart has sent us her version of the Mystery Quilt from Kanata Guild.

Doreen made this quilt from fabrics she bought in Paducah.

Check out the custom quilting.

Janice Pound has a new granddaughter coming soon. she has finished the quilt top and it is off to be quilted.

Kate started this shawl in 2017, and finished it yesterday. It is done, though not perfect.

Marilyn bought the fabric and pattern for this quilt in Alaska. The pattern is called "Blanket Toss".

These are rug hooked designs based on paintings by Maud Lewis.

MaryAnn said that this was the first log cabin that she made, but I don't think it is a log cabin design.

That is all for this week.

Our next Show and Tell is February 22. Maybe we can have some red quilts, heart quilts, or maybe family quilts, since Family Day is in February.
