Virtual Meeting - April 6, 2020

Welcome to the first virtual meeting of the Poole Creek Quilters. It isn't quite the same as the meetings we are used to, but at least we will be able to see all the wonderful things that our members are making during their i-sew-lation. (Okay, that was bad.)

Thought for the day:

Friendship is sewn with love, and measured by kindness.

Now, if everyone has their coffee (and a cookie, if you like), let's have some Show and Tell. If you click on a picture, you get a bigger version.

First is Barb Karim.

From Barb Sharp-Bond
This one is for Victoria's Quilts.

This one is paper pieced, and was quilted by Krista.

Beth Marshall tells us that she purchased the quilt top from a fabric artist on Manitoulin Island, and is enjoying hand quilting the top.

Carol McFee has been as busy as ever.

This is a hexie bed quilt, that she is appliquing to the green border.

This is a wall hanging called Yoko's Baskets.

Diane Watchorn adapted Bonnie Hunter's mystery "Frolic" to charity size.

This is Elvira, which was a Quarantine Quilt Along from GE Designs.

Janice Pound sent a quilt called Kaleidoscope by Nancy Rink Designs. It was quilted by Stella Gray.

Jeannie Barkin made these pillows for her daughter-in-law's brother and wife. They like to go "glamping". Jeannie did the embroidery, as well as making the pillows.

Judy Thompson has been getting a jump on spring, with some gardening.

Kate discovered a table runner that was too ambitious to finish. I decided to finish it, in a shorter size than originally planned, and now it is done.

Maybe not completely finished, I still need to hand sew the binding.

Kathy O'Hagen made a case for her Featherweight, with a matching pouch for her feet and bobbins!

Liz finished a UFO as well. She completed the quilting on this wall hanging.

Margaret Duncan has started a queen size quilt top. She isn't sure where it is going, next.

MaryAnn has been making a Minecraft quilt, with technical advice from her grandson.

Mavis finished this quilt.

She also turned her cross stitch into a pillow.

Nicole has been making scrub caps.

She also sent a quilt.

Pat Nyenhuis has just returned from Florida and is making good use of her quarantine time.

Susan Noad is expecting a new granddaughter in May, so she made this cute quilt.

Susan Schmidt tells us that her Book Nerd Quilt is currently hanging, at the Emerald Plaza Branch of the Ottawa Public Library (sadly, the branch is currently closed).

Wow, that was an awesome Show and Tell. We are obviously using our time creatively. If you didn't send a picture this week, our next virtual meeting will be April 20. I would love to have even more pictures for that "meeting".

Meanwhile, a message from our Chairperson.

Stay home and keep safe!  I look forward to seeing everyone in the near future.
Liz

You can comment below, if you like, or send a message directly to the individual makers.

Until next time, Kate

I'm sorry you were unable to include the comments I sent along with the Book Nerd quilt top. Perhaps we should go to a Facebook page to make access easier.
