Virtual Meeting - March 29, 2021

Welcome to our 25th Virtual Show and Tell .

I guess many of you have been enjoying the lovely weather we had last week. I know that I did. However, it was not to last, so this week we will have to find our sunshine and warmth in our quilts.

We have a small collection for this week, but it is as lovely as ever.

Barb made this quilt for her granddaughter.

Carol McFee made the centre block for a William Morris quilt called Morning Glory. She calls her version Ahh Spring!

Carol also made a little sewing box and named it after a quilt shop in Ireland, called The Sewing Shed.

The pattern is by Yoko Saito.

Doreen experimented with paint to get the effect of reflections she wanted in this wall hanging. The quilting is by Beth van Wyngaarten.

Helen Elder Anderson received fabric from the stash of a lady giving up quilting. She made two quilt tops for the lady's grand nieces, using some of the precut strips from the stash.

Kate made another small pouch, this week. My daughter-in-law was looking for something to carry her masks in. I made a pouch with a pocket on the front.

I had some difficulty with the cranes misbehaving. The one on the front completely lost his head, and the one on the back decided to fly upside down.

Just a reminder that you can see a larger version of any of the pictures, by clicking on them.

That is all, for this week. Have a very safe and happy Easter.

Our next show and Tell is April 12.

Virtual Meeting - March 15, 2021

Welcome back! It is so nice the "see" everyone, again. I hope you all had a chance to enjoy the sunshine and warm temperatures last week. They seem to have disappeared, but hopefully will return, soon.

We have some lovely quilts to show you today. Enjoy!

Carol McFee finished this gorgeous wall hanging with poppies.

Doris Breslins sent this Irish Chain quilt she made for a friend of Irish descent. The fabric is "Strawberry Thief" by William Morris, because her friend has a large garden that includes strawberry plants. The quilting was done by Beth van Wyngaarden.

Jan Pound made this quiltie from the fabric leftover from the quilt she made for her soon-to-be-born granddaughter. The backing is a fabric called "Fireside" which is available at Makers Savvy.

Jeannie Barkin has been busy. she made two of these "Tetris" queen sized quilts, one for her son and one for her daughter-in-law.

Jeannie also finished a cross stitch that she turned into a pillow for her granddaughter.

Joy finished the top of her Nutcracker quilt. She made it for a young girl who has danced in the Nutcracker at the NAC. She says she will start quilting it when she finds her thimble.

Yesterday was Pi Day, and celebration of things circular and eating pie. So this is my "Maritime Beauty" table topper that I made a few years ago.

Marilyn also sent us circles, with her version of "Dancing Fans".

This is a quilt Marilyn made using Jane Sassaman fabrics. check out the quilting on the border.

Finally, Marion Roussie just completed this quilt for her grandson. He is graduating from High School in June. The quilt was a kit from Connecting Threads.

Thank you for all your wonderful pictures.

Our next Show and Tell is March 29. Hopefully, it will feel like spring by then.

Virtual Meeting - March 1, 2021

A quick Show and Tell, today. I must admit, I have a new foster cat and her care last night drove any thoughts of doing the posting completely out of my head. Good news is that I remembered, this morning!

As requested, we have pictures from a couple of people we haven't had pictures from, lately.

First up is Beth. The first quilt is called Strum, and she made it for her husband. she is currently working on the pattern.

Her second quilt is called "A Quilt for Alba's sister" and is a gift for a friend of her daughter.

Kate's favourite cat rescue group is having a fund raiser at the end of the month. So, I made them some cat themed pouches.

Just in case you thought that I have a lot of cat fabric, you are right. I pulled it out, the other day, to find a specific piece. This is what I found, and it doesn't include the small pieces.

Leslie made a baby quilt, and finished it, just in time.

MaryAnn sent a picture of an heirloom quilt. This was made in the 1800"s by a relative of her mother-in-law, who lived west of  Renfrew. the pattern is called Peony.

Pat Nyenhuis finished her red challenge quilt. She calls it falling leaves.

I hope you enjoy the quilts this week.

If you want to look back on any past Show and Tell, you can click on the dates in the bar on the right side.

Our next Show and Tell is March 15.
